I wanted to share some great gluten-free, dairy-free holiday recipes with you. Even if you are not gluten or dairy sensitive, I think you’ll find these delicious.
Being gluten-free and/or dairy-free during the holidays is hard. Cookies, cakes, pies, eggnog and whipped cream are everywhere. Tempting you to have a little.
If you are gluten-free or dairy-free, you may feel left-out, sad and discouraged. You might even feel the need to cheat a little…just this once. I mean, it’s the HOLIDAYS!
But if you do you might wake up the next morning feeling like a Santa ran you over with his sleigh.
Ouch.
It feels worse than a hangover because it could take your body months to fully recover.
My best advice for you is don’t do it. But saying no doesn’t have to mean you can’t have some fun too!
Deprivation never feels good.
I suggest instead that you bring your own treat. Make your own, put in a special order, or make the trip to the gluten-free bakery in your neighborhood. Your body will thank you for it.
And if you are hosting a holiday party, go ahead and make (or buy) a gluten-free, dairy-free dessert option. I can almost guarantee that one of your guests will absolutely LOVE you for it!
Bob’s Red Mill has a yummy gluten-free all purpose flour. Coconut milk and almond milk are great milk alternatives. You can easily substitute these in your favorite recipe.
Here are a few of my holiday faves.
- Glazed Gingerbread Mini-Cupcakes (published in Ronnie’s Awesome List). I made these for the Girlfriend Sex Talk in December.
- Coconut Eggnog. If you thought your eggnog days were over… they are not! This dairy-free eggnog is delightful.
- Cardamon Infused Coconut Whipped Cream with Cinnamon Apples. You can skip the cardamon and the apples and just make plain whipped cream – that’s the real gem here.
Enjoy!
