I hope you had an abundant Thanksgiving with family and friends.
SO much good food, pie and wine…and with leftovers – it never ends!
But are you feeling the Thanksgiving hang-over now?
Feeling the bloat, heartburn or constipation?
Here’s a little trick to help you move things along.
Drink a glass of warm lemon water.
In the morning is best, but at any point during the day, this simple little drink will help you feel better. Full stop.
The lemon will help increase your hydrochloric acid which will get your digestive fire going. Hydrochloric acid kills off harmful bacteria and increases production of enzymes needed to digest food. Lemon also stimulates production of bile which will help remove ‘waste’ from your body.
I like to use half a lemon. I squeeze the juice into the water and then throw the half lemon rind, pith and all into the water as well. You could start with a quarter lemon if you want but you definitely want more than just a slice.
And I like it to be a little warmer than room temperature and drink it like a tea. Too cold and your body will have to work too hard. Too hot and you won’t get all the benefits of the vitamin C. Around room temperature is just right.
Don’t have fresh lemons? Use Bragg’s Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. Any amount from 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon is good. You may want to add some honey or molasses to make it taste more to your liking.
Or you can use 1-2 drops of lemon essential oil. It doesn’t have all the benefits of fresh lemon but it comes pretty close.
Don’t have any of the above? Or want to learn more? I’d love to help you.
